Jeanette Rumsby, M.A.: Writing & Executive Function Coach
For over ten years, Jeanette has helped students across all grade levels achieve academic success. She teaches and tutors students with learning differences and executive function delays, including ADHD, Dyslexia, and Level 1 Autism, assisting them in subject-specific comprehension and the overall organization of their academic methods.
At Links Through Learning, Jeanette offers 1:1 services in reading and writing intervention, homework support, and coaching in executive functioning for grades five and up. She currently has openings for students who need support in English Literature and Composition, History, French 1 & 2, and Latin 1 & 2. Jeanette is particularly passionate about teaching the essay writing process. Through the use of visualization, graphic organizers, specific analytical methods, dictation, and other techniques, she helps students progress from the initial brainstorm and research phase to the final draft with minimal anxiety.
Jeanette is certified in the Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham Approach, an accredited teacher training program of the International Dyslexia Association, and she has completed introductory courses in the Wilson Reading System and Just Words Program in addition to executive function training with Sara Ward. Jeanette recently completed The Writing Revolution's pedagogy course, Advancing Thinking Through Writing, and is excited to be adding the Hochman Method of writing instruction to her work.
Jeanette graduated Summa Cum Laude from Saint Mary’s College of California with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Composition, and she received First Class Honors at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, earning a Master of Arts in Medieval History and Literature.
Outside of work hours, Jeanette loves to cook, run, read, and play outside with her two-year-old son. She is very excited to be welcoming a baby girl to her family this June!
